COLLECTIVE CREATION WORKSHOPS
A VARIETY OF TRAINING OPTIONSWORKSHOP
Sotterraneo characterizes its research through a method of collective and horizontal creation.
The tools that every member has increasingly become shared heritage, and their scenic choices are the result of a compromise between technical and practical questions, a reduction of complexity based on a shared poetic and aesthetic background. The group manages its training programs by extending their own method of research to all participants, and motivating them to feel active and integral part of their path.
The various stages of performance creation undergone by Sotterraneo for each production are proposed and illustrated to all participants for what they are – not mere exercises to train a pupil, but above all a research group’s extended, enlarged, shared creation method. The work is designed in a horizontal manner, listening to proposals and ideas that come from all participants, made responsible towards the creation (which is researched, co-produced and not imposed). Participants stage it whenever there is a final demo, performance or a show. It is important to point out that Sotterraneo is not just as a mere co-participant, but is responsible for the project co-organization by programming the daily work on the medium and long term. It also has the final say on decisions concerning the possible staging of the piece.
Sotterraneo regularly manages workshops with all its components. It is not to do with mere transmission of knowledge, but sharing of a creation methodology which is at its maximum when working/training in a collective.
